It’s almost like the stars aligned for me in September

Month 1 of picking myself up from the subpar skillset has amazed me!

Remember my previous article, Where I had bit of a meltdown and mentioned my goal of upskilling starting September, with the plan to measure my progress by the end of December? Thankfully, it wasn’t a bluff, and I got started with Linux — which is the first step to get started with cloud computing, from actual scratch.

Since then, I have written two articles on my learning journey, and it was an eye opener, since you learn better by teaching or writing. This doesn’t mean that I didn’t struggle along the way, because some days I learn for two hours, and other times I barely scramble an hour. Sometimes even get too distracted because I work a 9–5 and you can’t help the distraction. But these are mere excuses, really.

What I have reminded myself since my previous article was that I’m in my growing and waiting season, patient for when the bloom comes.

However, I have also struggled at some point, particularly because I did not prepare enough learning resources in advance. As a result, I wasted a lot of time searching for materials and couldn’t find a solid Linux project on YouTube — sounds like a lie, right?

Asides Linux, I’ve also explored content and copywriting, aiming to improve my skills as a secondary source of income. I have taken a course on Youtube and to be honest, it did it for me. This is also a journey.

Back to my actual 9–5 activities, I seem to be finding a balance in my new role. I do what I need to do, which may not always be perfect, but it makes me happy when my mentor gives me constructive feedbacks. I used to be someone who gets angry when corrected, but now it excites me. I will tell you more about cloud governance and operational excellence in the coming days, hopefully!

Reading Bob Proctor’s Book, titled Change Your Paradigm, Change Your Life this same month has tweaked my mindset, encouraging me to let go of limiting beliefs. You see, I’ve grown so much that I even forgot I turned 24 this month!

Notwithstanding, this month also brought some heavy news. I heard about the kidnapping of a 20-year-old boy named Anas. It broke my heart that he was picked up right in front of his house, and after a ransom was paid, he was tragically killed. What is happening to Nigeria? This incident triggered my “Japa” dreams. Not forgetting that your death will find you wherever you are.

Welp. Enough of me. Alhamdulillah for this quarter. How has Q3 been for you, and what are your plans going into Q4?

Love as always,

Benazir
